Our Etsy Referral Program is a simple way for us to expand your audience, reward those who put time and effort into helping us do so, and do a bit of market research. Read below for more information and then sign-up to receive a referral code of your own to start earning free products!
THE BASICS:
What do I get out of this? Free products! Check out the thresholds below to find out exactly what free products and when you get them. You also help us know where our buyers are coming from and allow us to get that much closer to our dream of being fully self-employed from this business by helping us spread the word.
What do the people I refer get out of this? We know that people aren’t always likely to mention who referred them so we wanted to encourage the inclusion of a referral code in as many orders as possible! Anyone that includes a referral code in the “Notes to Seller” at check-out will receive a free Champagne or Peppermint lip balm with their order. If they have a preference, they’re welcome to include it with the code! If not, we’ll pick for them.
QUALIFYING ORDERS:
What makes an order a qualifying order? Every qualifying order has the following characteristics:
- Over $9.99 AFTER coupon, BEFORE shipping. That means that the total after discount is $10.00 or more before shipping.
- Includes your five-digit referral code (that will be sent via email) in the “Notes to Seller” to let us know who sent them our way.
If an order is $9.99 or under and includes a referral code, it will not be considered valid and therefore will not count towards your order count. Similarly, if an order does not contain a referral code in the “Notes to Seller” when the purchase is made, it will not be considered valid and therefore will not count towards your order count. So be sure to remind people to spend $10 or more AND include your code in order for their purchase to count!
Do all orders need to be from different people? Nope! As long as they are all a qualifying order (over $9.99 and include your referral code), it doesn’t matter who they come. You could hit the ten order threshold by having 10 different people place an order or 2 people place five orders each. It doesn’t matter how you get there as long as it’s a qualifying order!
ORDER COUNT THRESHOLDS:
What are the order count thresholds? Every time your referral code is used in a qualifying order, you’re one step closer to receiving free products! Below are the specific thresholds for your referral orders:
- 3 Qualifying Orders: Free three pack of lip balm – your choice of flavors. ($10.50 value)
- 5 Qualifying Orders: Free 6 oz sugar scrub – your choice of scent. ($9.00 value)
- 8 Qualifying Orders: Free 8oz detangler or beach waves – your choice of scent. ($10.00 value)
- 10 Qualifying Orders: $15 Gift Certificate to the shop
- 12 Qualifying Orders: Free 8oz body spray – your choice of scent. ($14.00 value)
- 15 Qualifying Orders: Free 8oz shampoo – your choice of scent: ($15.00 value)
- 18 Qualifying Orders: Free 8oz detangler or beach waves – your choice of scent. ($10.00 value)
- 20 Qualifying Orders: $30 Gift Certificate to the shop
We’ll be adding more to the order count thresholds for those who are rock-star referrers so don’t worry if you’re getting close to the 20 qualifying order threshold – we’ll have something for you, promise!
How do the order count thresholds work? When you hit three total qualifying orders, you receive your first free products. Then when you hit five total qualifying orders (so two more after you receive your first goodies), you receive your second round of free products. Then when you hit eight total qualifying orders (so five more from your first free products and three more from your second round of free products), you receive your third round of free products and so on!
Do my own orders count towards my order count thresholds? Unfortunately your orders do not count towards your order count. Our goal with this program is to expand our audience and reward those who help us do just that. Besides, we already like to throw in extra goodies for our repeat buyers so you’re not missing out!
PROMOTION:
Do you have a graphic/image/button I can add to my website with my referral code? You’ll receive information on how to receive an image for free when we send your referral code to you along with ideas on ways that you can share your referral code.
Can I buy a pack of referral cards with my code to pass out to friends/customers/family/etc? You bet! The price is $7.50 for 50 cards if you reside within the US, $10 if you reside elsewhere. If you’d like to print some at home, we’re happy to send you an image that you can use for free. Just get in contact with us via email or our contact page if this is something you’re interested in!
EVERYTHING ELSE:
Is the Referral Program free to join? 100%! There are no fees associated with the program itself (see below on purchasing from us in order to sign-up) outside of promotional materials that are completely optional.
Does my order count ever reset? Nope. Your orders are good forever!
Who tracks the orders? We do all the work for you. We’ll notify you when qualifying orders are placed if you check that little box on the form below, but we’ll keep the tally even if you don’t want to know every time an order is placed with your referral code. You can check with us any time you’d like to know how many qualifying orders you have.
Does this work on previous orders? Sorry, but this does not apply towards anyone that you have referred in the past.
Do I have to purchase something from you in order to sign up for the referral program? Nope! We welcome anyone who’s interested in helping us spread the word. While you don’t have to be a current customer of ours in order to sign up for the referral program, we strongly encourage it! It’s much easier to persuade someone to use specific products when you have firsthand experience with them.
Is this valid at the Storenvy shop? Currently this program is ONLY for our Etsy shop.

Once you fill out the form below, we’ll email you a referral code that is specific to you within 72 hours along with ideas on how you can use and share your referral code!

If you would like to be notified of any changes that are made to the referral program, please click “yes” in the form above when asked if ou like to be notified via email when updates are made to the referral program. Referral codes are sent out within 72 hours, usually much sooner – if you do not receive your code within 72 hours, please check your spam folder and then email us at gnarlywhale@gmail.com to verify that we have received your information. Once referral codes are given, they CANNOT be changed. It is your duty to notify us of any email or home address changes whenever they happen. We will only contact you at the email provided of any changes, order threshold achievements, etc.
